How perfect is this? This was a float in the Owen Sound Santa Claus Parade!
This is Terry and me heading up my laneway in the real deal: my 1962 Buick Special Station Wagon. And below is Terry's very best Sears pose... and mine. Love it!

Sun Nov 7 Bound for Glory
http://wvbr.com/listen
We had so much fun at Bound For Glory! We had a wonderful visit with friends old and new and everyone gave us such a warm welcome. Phil bounded over (pardon the pun) enthusiastically at the first break to invite us to come back for another show!
We had gotten into town fairly early so our new friends Jim and Susan Murphy invited us over to the local Irish pub to hear Susan's celtic trio perform. We listened to Susan, Jerry and Nora's playing over a yummy bowl of beef stew. Comfort food for the ears and belly! There had been a parade earlier that day and there was a pipe band in the pub enjoying a few pints. We joked about how everyone in Ithaca wears kilts. Most of the other folks in the place were wearing plaid of some sort just to prove the rule. We decided the plaid flannel shirts were really up-side-down kilts.
Anywhoo....
A good time was had by all!
Until next time Ithaca!
Here are some shots from our concert taken by Gwen Bullock.

Well, the border crossing Saturday morning was a breeze and the weather was perfect for driving. We got to Ralph and Judy's in no time which meant we had lots of time for visiting. The potluck dinner was fantastic, with folks bringing every dish you could imagine and Ralph in the kitchen cooking up stir fry. It was so great to see so many of our friends out. WE LOVE YOU ROCHESTER! We're moving onto the big stage out in Webster next time we're in town.
Until then, keep smiling Rochester!

England Tour 2010 - Week 4
Monday July 5th this day off was consumed with our quest for getting Terry’s guitar fixed. The tech crew from Hebden Bridge gave us some leads on nearby repair people. We drove to Cleckheaton, home of the Cleckheaton Folk Festival and “The Music Room”, a fantastic music shop. While Terry’s beloved Martin was being worked on we both were treated to a cup of tea while we sample the lovely guitars and violins in stock. I ended up buying an electric fiddle! (photo to come)
Tuesday July 6th we headed to the lovely Bungay, Suffolk in the East Midlands. We were greeted by The Fisher Theatre’s manager Chris Moore who is always so cheerful and witty. Some of our favourite people are in Bungay! His mom Wendy has invited us to perform at one of her garden party house concerts next tour! Chris is heading off to a new position in Yarmouth, overseeing the rebuilding of, then managing a theatre there. We are looking forward to seeing his new digs. We stayed that night at the beautiful Margaret Sheppard B&B that had just been on the garden tour. Margaret was very gracious and let me photograph some of her flowers.
Wednesday July 7th we drove up to Sigs again to get some much needed laundry and television viewing done! We had bought the movie “The Pelican Brief” DVD in a charity shop for £1 and wanted to watch it on a real TV not a laptop! After the show we were doing a bit of channel surfing and guess what was on! The Pelican Brief...figures!
Thursday July 8th we had a wonderful afternoon in the old city of York. After wandering the shambles and sampling the various sights we took some time out to chat with Steve Ritchie back home at the Hundred Mile Music Show in Owen Sound, Ontario. You can listen to the Podcast anytime at the above link. Show #10 - July 8, 2010 at 33min. Afterwards we treated ourselves to a traditional Yorkshire pudding then wandered over to the Evensong at the Minster.
We walked back to the Black Swan to do our show for the folk club. Organiser Roland Walls was on a much needed and deserved holiday that night. We wish you well Roland. Chris Euesden was our compere for the evening treated us to a wonderful opening set, as did harpist/singer Sarah Dean who shared a really great cover of the Police tune “Walking on the Moon”.
Friday July 9th we played the Bromsgrove Folk Festival and had a lovely visit/ reunion with Artisan members Hilary Spencer and Brian & Jacey Bedford. What a fun time! The audience was really onboard that night and it was great to hear some of Brian`s new songs when Artisan performed.
Saturday July 10th our last show in the spectacular Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond N Yorks. The A1 was being worked on so we took a detour straight into a big cycling race. It made for a thrilling ride on those B roads! We got to the theatre in no time though and met manager Vaughn Curtis. After our sound check we were treated to a wonderful dinner with our friend Valerie and the Singletons over at Rustique, a lovely French bistro in Richmond. The theatre sound tech Tony was superb and gave us some great leads on UK technical suppliers. He made us look and sound fabulous! The crowd was really fun, lots of banter back and forth throughout the show. We had a lot of laughs discussing the difference between Canadian English and English English. We’ll definitely be back to the Georgian next year according to Vaughn. We visited with friends after the show and after our long lovely farewells made a frantic exit with our gear and headed back down through the A1 detours to Wakefield for the night.
Sunday July 11th back to Manchester to Ken and Julie’s. What wonderful hosts! We have made such great friendships over the years on our tours. We couldn’t make this happen without you!
Monday July 12th we headed into downtown Manchester with Julie to visit the People’s Museum and various other Manchester sites. We lunched at City Hall. We highly recommend it! Our waiter was very charming, the food amazing and you can’t beat the surroundings! Gorgeous.
Tuesday July 13th homeward bound! We left for the airport at 11:00am. Our flight was quite delayed, so we treated ourselves to the airport massages and a nice tea. Finally at 6:00pm our plane was ready to board, but failed two take-off attempts due to electrical failures in the navigation system. Now that`s confidence inspiring! 4 ½ hours later we took off and finally arrived in Toronto at 11:00pm. After clearing customs, getting our luggage & gear and finding our ride home we finally arrived up in Owen Sound at 2:30am Canadian time (7:30am UK time) creating a whole new definition to “a long day”. Boy did it feel good to get home!
We remain unkilled, unscratched, and unscathed! We can`t wait to do it all over again. We`re planning our next UK tour for Sep to Oct 2011. Until then it's back to weeding and chickens...See you out there!
